Moving Day

I am sad to say that I have no pictures from moving day, my camera must have been packed away in a box somewhere - ha! We officially became home owners on Thursday, November 20th, and fun began from there =P We immediately went to our new home and did a walk through to see our fabulous new purchase, and then we went straight back to the townhome we were residing in to tie up all loose ends and pack up boxes.

Terri was such a trooper through the whole moving process. She came over Thursday evening and helpped pack away the final room left - the dreaded KITCHEN! My least favorite room to pack. Everyone helping us move over the weekend got a kick out of Terri's box labeling...one appeared as this "Kitchen - Breakable. It is now 1:30 a.m., blah blah blah" :) Too cute! Terri and I also went shopping for lamps for my living room as well as a new bathroom set for my main bathroom. Her work/help didn't stop there, as you can see above with the cleaning the kitchen floor, but I will touch more on her help later in this post.

Friday morning came, and my little helper arrived right on time, around 8:45 a.m. Terri picked me up at the townhome, we stopped for a Starbucks coffee, and grabbed all of our cleaning supplies and headed over to the new house to start cleaning. There were alot of cabinets to wash out, bathrooms to clean (there are three in the house), light fixtures to wash, baseboards to wipe down, and appliances to clean out. Yep, we stripped this sucker clean! Just before Terri picked me up, Josh went and picked up the U-Haul, and then headed out to Nebraska Furniture Mart to pick up all of our new goodies - which I LOVE!!!! Josh's dad, Steve, came late morning to help Josh with the guy stuff to do around the house...things like getting measurements for new doors, picking up new locks for all the exterior doors, buying a new hood for the stove (I wasn't about to attempt to clean 20 years of someone else's goo...okay okay, so I attempted it, but it was way to disgusting!), taking apart shower door so we could clean them, and they could caulk the base, as well as other items which resulted in multiple Lowe's and Home Depot runs. My mom and John showed up early evening on Friday to help with the tasks at hand before we could actually start moving furniture and boxes into the house. Terri had to leave to relieve Johnny of kid duty so he could come over, because Josh thought he was going to start moving boxes over from the townhome. But my mom sort of took control and nixed all moving until ALL cleaning was done...so we sent Johnny home and Terri returned again to clean a bathroom - she is such a trooper, I owe her something really special for Christmas...and she still does more!!! Cleaning is done at about 11:30 p.m., and we go for a late night Taco Bell run, and then back to the townhome to get some much needed sleep for the next days move. Somehow we don't go to bed until around 1:30 a.m., and all the movers are expected at 8:00 a.m. the next day.

Saturday came WAY too soon for Mom, John, Josh, and I. Cari and Scott (The Safety Guy) were the first to arrive, right on time. Mr. Safety brought safety gloves for all the movers so they didn't drop any of my precious boxes - THANKS SAFETY GUY!!!! :) Close behind them were Terri and Johnny, and then they all started to arrive...Deby, Dave & Diana; Paula and Michael; Scott (Josh's friend); my cousin Stephanie; my Dad; and Josh's grandparent's Lahvie and Paul. We had 18 people here helping us move furniture, boxes, bring donuts, get sodas, cook pizzas - WOW, you name it, they did it. We couldn't have gotten all that done without each one of them, and the Allee's thank each and everyone of you for all of your help! I know it sounds like alot of people in one house for a move, but to me, all that means is that we have TONS of people who love us very much!

Mom and John stayed until Sunday evening, they cleaned the hot tube out so that we could enjoy it this winter season, as well as other miscellaneous things to help us put our home in order :) Their help is greatly appriciated!!! Later Sunday evening, around 9:00 p.m., Terri arrived with her cleaning gloves in hand and SOS pads to conquer cleaning my kitchen floor - that is another post though!

All in all it was a fabulous move, nothing lost, nothing broken, and lots of help! Thanks to everyone that came and pitched in for us - we love you all!!!
