I cannot believe it, but it is that time of year again, my little guy's 6th birthday party. I have a hard time believing that is has been six years! I think that he and his friends had a blast. We had 43 people at our house, CRAZY right! They didn't know where to start first, the waterslide or the moonwalk. We had a Speedracer theme, picked by the birthday boy, except they don't make a Speedracer moonwalk just yet ;) At the conclusion of the party, Braden told me "that was the best birthday party ever, mom! All my friends were here playing with me and I got the best presents!" He was so adorable, and thankful, which was the best part I think. Josh and I got him a Nintendo DS Lite, which was on the top of the wish list. You should have heard him when he ripped it open :) We are very thankful to all of our friends and family who came out to enjoy the afternoon with us, and for all of their help in getting the party to run smoothly, thanks to all! Here are some pictures from the day to share with all of you.
Can you believe this sight...and that is only a portion of the people actually there!
The kids just ran around like crazy, I am sure they all slept good last night!
I just had to include this one because after I looked at Paula's facial expression, I then looked at Squidwards on the side of the moonwalk, and I thought they looked strikingly similar - ha!
Birthday boy and his Speedracer Cake!
His favorite present - ever!
I just thought this was a cute shot because it showed a portion of his friends gathered around him while opening presents.
Braden's school collects these to raise money for his classroom, and he will get a special prize at the end of the year for collecting them and bringing them to his teacher. They are found on things like Ziploc products, Kleenex products (tissues, paper towels, toilet paper), certain cereals, Betty Crocker mixes, Green Giant products, Pillsbury products, Hefty trash bags etc. Send them all my way if your kids don't use them in their school.
Before I was a Mom
Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much… before I was a Mom.
