This is the "Allee Family Blog" so it can be about Josh and I too :) Weekend before last was our Annual Friends Camping trip, which was Josh's suprise 30th birthday as well. It was great fun, espeically the part when my cousin Stephanie smashed Josh's cake into his face when he was to pretend blow out the candles - some think the best part was when she went face first down the hill running away from him after she did it - ha! Also, for the first time EVER I tried wakeboarding, I got up on the third try! After getting out of the water and into the boat, I said "OH MY GOSH, I cannot believe I got up." And my cousin Nick looks at me and says "I can't either!" All in all it was a great weekend, good food, friends (and family), and drinks!!!
Braden took post as pitcher during game one for the YMCA Tigers, and he did a pretty good job at it. Okay okay, I am probably biased, but it sure was cute :) Upon his first hit, he whacked the ball good out into the outfield, and he was very proud of himself. When he returned to the batter's box the second time around, the coach on the other team made all his players moved back to get ready for the big hitter and said, "The big guy can hit, everyone move back and keep your eye's on the ball!" Braden though that was the highlight of the game - ha! Anyway, all in all, it was a cute game, can't wait for game two!
This is our third year attending the annual Day Out With Thomas event held in Baldwin City, Kansas. The 45 minute drive is well worth it according to our five year old train/Thomas fanatic! As you can see, he is very much enjoying himself in the Thomas the Train festivities!
Every summer my firm hosts a family event at an amusement location here in the Metropolitan area. For the last three years it has been hosted at Powerplay in Kansas. This is the first year that Braden has been able to be included in EVERYTHING the indoor playhouse has to offer. As you can see, he very much enjoyed the go karts, bumper cars, and rides! Diana joined us for the fun filled day, and we all went home exhausted! We get to do it all over again next Saturday for Josh's work summer event, they are holding it at the exact same place - Braden is SO excited!!!
Braden's school collects these to raise money for his classroom, and he will get a special prize at the end of the year for collecting them and bringing them to his teacher. They are found on things like Ziploc products, Kleenex products (tissues, paper towels, toilet paper), certain cereals, Betty Crocker mixes, Green Giant products, Pillsbury products, Hefty trash bags etc. Send them all my way if your kids don't use them in their school.
Before I was a Mom
Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much… before I was a Mom.
